URBAN LIVESTOCK EXPO

While we could not host the Urban Livestock Expo in person this year, we celebrated Earth Day with a series of virtual tours featuring Chicago livestock growers and their farms.

If you or someone you know is looking to be part of the movement towards sustainable urban livestock, this event is a great way to get informed. Check out the videos below for best practices for raising different types of urban livestock in Chicago – including bees, chickens, and goats – with experts from local farms.

Experts include Fermin Meza of Little Village Environmental Justice Organization; Carolyn Ioder of GlennArt Farm; Jim Lichon of Chicago Farm Lab; and Oscar Villa of Bee-Utiful Honey & Candles.

Enjoy!

If you or someone you know are interested in urban livestock, the Urban Livestock Expo is a great introduction. If you have specific questions about livestock, we encourage you to ask our Grown in Chicago Council! The Council is a group of Chicago urban agriculture experts that provide free, technical assistance for growers looking for answers to questions or hands on support.

Interested in participating in the 2022 Urban Livestock Expo? Connect with our Outreach Coordinator, Jazmin Martinez at Jazmin@auachicago.org for information on how to get involved in next year’s (hopefully in person) event!

These videos are from Earth Day, April 22, 2021. The next Urban Livestock Expo will be in April of 2022. See you there!
