Have you wondered what kind of harvesting tools you need? What’s the best time to harvest in the summer? Where you can store your extra tomatoes and what can you make with them? Join Chicago Urban Farmer Safia Rashid from Your Bountiful Harvest to learn more about harvesting, processing and storage for at home and small scale farming!
Safia Rashid is the owner and urban farmer of Your Bountiful Harvest Family Farm. She is certified in sustainable urban agriculture through the Chicago Botanic Garden’s Windy City Harvest program and a graduate of the Lifeboat Permaculture course of the Black Oaks Center for Sustainable Renewable Living. Safia has taught hands-on farming skills to Permaculture students of The Black Oaks Center, youth from both the Chicago Public School system and Homeschoolers, and the community at large through farm internships and classes. At Your Bountiful Harvest Family Farm they grow vegetables and herbs and make jams, fermented vegetables, and sauces with a focus on the African American Southern tradition and African diaspora. Your Bountiful Harvest Family Farm is a founding member of the Englewood Village Farms, a cooperative of urban and rural farmers.
