Join us for another great opportunity to connect with and learn from urban agriculture practitioners and supporters from across the Chicago area.  There will be a potluck, mix & mingle, community slideshow, discussion panel and more!

Please bring a tasty (and labeled!) dish to share, along with your own plate/bowl/cutlery.

Showcase your urban garden or farm project! Send 1-2 photos to coordinator@auachicago.org by 8AM on May 14.

6-7PM: Panel discussion – “Sharing the Harvest”
Farmers, gardeners, food pantry coordinators and recipients from across the city will discuss donation programs, garden “gleaning” projects, and other ways that local gardens and farms can ensure that what they grow goes to good use.
Moderated by Ben Helphand, Executive Director of NeighborSpace.
Panelists include: Laura Erickson (Green Youth Farm), Erin Fuller (Merchant Park Community Garden), Breanne Heath (Growing Home), Todd Jones (Every Last Morsel), Robert Nevel (KAMII, White Rock Gleaning Program), Al Simmons (Ginkgo Organic Giving Garden), and Angela Taylor (Garfield Park Garden Network).

We’re also excited about this Saturday’s “Celebrating City Growing” party & AUA fundraiser, which will cap the first day of the Midwest Urban Farmers Summit (March 9-10) and feature an exclusive pre-release screening of a new documentary, Q&A with the filmmaker, live music, local beer and more – we hope to see you there!

It’s shaping up to be a full weekend ahead of us with the Midwest Urban Farmers Summit, the Farm Dreams workshop, Beekeeping Classes and more, but whatever your daytime plans on Saturday, plan on meeting up with us at the ECO Collective in Pilsen that evening to let loose!  AUA and the folks from the Midwest Urban Farmers Summit are hosting a party to kick off the growing season with an exclusive pre-release screening of Growing Cities (featuring Chicago farms like The Plant, Growing Home, City Farm and Growing Power!), a Q&A with the filmmakers, high-energy live music from the Kodiak Farm Boys (co-led by City Farm’s own Dave Henderson!), delicious local beer from Revolution Brewery, and popcorn!

All proceeds from the night will help to fund AUA’s outreach, educational and advocacy projects.  More details will be up on AUA’s website soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
