Corporations and beankrs have soiled almost every aspect of life on this planet in the name of greed and lust for power. They have been given too much power in our laws and we need to consistently write our representatives to urge them to address these issues. My grandparents told me of how the idea of Victory Gardens helped so much during the Great Depression. I have a feeling that many people should start trying to grow as much of their own food as possible at this time. Small farmers need to be able to grow their produce freely without hassles from corporate farm interests. We need to get more “back to the basics” and quit expecting everything to be quick and easy if we expect people and other life on this planet to survive.Love, Hope, Peace, & Christ Is With Us All,Cal-el

I would love to come just for the alepps but I’m all tied up. I love picking fresh crisp alepps in autumn. As for the hot dogs, I stopped eating them a while ago because of sodium content and grilling seemed to intensify to sodium, so I used to boil them and eat them on a bum with all the fixin’s. Yum! Try giving us the heads-up earlier next time for us who are fairly new to the site.

[Moved by web page adoinistratmr from original HaloScan comment box]:I think I have found the problem. We have gotten away from localized centers and too much emphasis on getting things right away and our time is too important. When I was a kid, it used to be that you would take a bus or two to get to a commercial center like Lincoln & Belmont, Lincoln & Irving, Irving & Milwaukee. And if you needed groceries you'd walk to the corner store or the supermarket was not too far away. Now people are driving farther to larger commercial centers to save money. If those of us who have the means could spend a little more and support the local (walking distance) stores, we could start to get back to that time. Romantic idea, but it would be nice. Fortunately, some neighborhoods, like Lincoln Park, have the density to support both small and large stores within walking distance.I am guilty of supporting Ikea also. Part of that is they have good prices, but the other is having modern furniture at reasonable prices. Unfortunately, they are so good at

Tara, I saw snetmhiog about this yesterday when I went to see Wanted. I'm so glad that there is a benefit going on this huge for cancer. I've had family members with this horrible disease, but until it got me, I don't think it would have meant as much. I can't wait to see the results from this and hope that it really does help create some breakthroughs. My particular kind of breast cancer (triple negative) is one with the least therapies and the most unknowns. I'm not on FAcebook anymore, but this might be a good reason to get back on. Please let me know if there's any way I can help you with this or be involved.Drea

This federal state and local. Investment in Chicagos.food desserts is a great way to empower underserved residents to become self reliant entrepreneurs. As well as combat cronic diseases in our communities. The best way to encourage new businesses to emerge from the growing concerns in local the food systems is to begin to host networking events that focuses on new information on how to get started and become profitable in this growing industry. Big corporations have no interest in supporting entrepreneurs in the local Foodservices because of pure greed the city need to encourage more green biz development and support start- up that focus on the reduction of cronic health issues in our community
